BRITISH RESIDENCY OF LUCKNOW

The British East India Company’s generals were based in The Residency, commonly referred to as the Residential Complex. The British residential complex served as the British refugee camp until the uneasy hours came to an end during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, when the Indians rose up against the control of the British East India Company. There are three levels of the residency. Offices, libraries, the Begum Kothi, a mosque, and a restaurant that is no longer there were once housed there. A marble slab commemorating each soldier who took part in the Indian uprising is mounted on one of the residence’s walls. Additionally, it has a historic banquet hall with impressive wall and pillar carvings.

RUMI DARWAZA

The Rumi Darwaza Lucknow is a spectacular doorway in Lucknow’s old city that stands sixty feet tall. When touring Lucknow’s other two famous monuments, the Bara Imambara Lucknow and Chhota Imambara, you may easily find the monument because it is located perfectly between them. The Nawab Oudh, Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, constructed this magnificent gateway. Because the Rumi Darwaza was modeled after Turkey’s Bab-i-Humayun entryway, it is also known as the Turkish gate.
